My Design Portfolio Icons
Below are icons I drew by hand then created the final versions in PhotoShop. I chose warm colors of orange and yellow since they generate excitement and energy to explore more of the site, and when rolloed over, I used the warm color red to portray the passion I have for my work. I also used blue from the cool color family for contrast and to accentuate the icons. The shapes of the icons are realistic since I drew from real life objects. The File icon is for the Portfolio, the Book with a Bookmark is the Add To Favorites icon, the Chain is for links and resources, and the Envelope is for Email. The circle around it is simply a background for contrast. There is no ambiguity as to what they mean. I have used an 8 point bold Verdana Typeface to label the icons.

I designed these icons for an investment firm, once again I stuck with the warm color family of Orange/Yellow to create an aura that is soothing and inviting to the eyes. For the Search feature I use the cool color blue which denotes, comfort and security, since that is what a user would want when dealing with online investments. The shapes are obvious from practical objects we use daily. The Padlock is for logging in, the Magnifying Glass is for searching, the Printer is to print information, and as for the Question mark for Help, I used that because it is universal that when people have questions, they'll seek Help for answers.
