  • Don't compress your original source files
  • Web files are 72 dpi
  • Print files require 300 dpi resolution
  • For multimedia CDs, text in images requires a higher resolution to appear crisp - 600 dpi to 1200 dpi

Keep in mind when using colors that you don't always have control over what your viewers see.  They may set their browsers to display the colors that they like or use a text-only black/white/gray color scheme. According to Tillamook Bay Community College, you specify colors using hexidecimal numbers.  Although you may use any of the colors that have hex codes, some colors dither, meaning that they appear splotty or splotchy.  To select the "safe" colors, choose those with appropriate RGB numbers, those which combine proportions of red, green and blue.  The first two hex digits represent red, the next two green, the next two blue.  In the following table of recommended colors, select one number from each column..

Be sure to test your colors on multiple platforms to make sure they are well recognized.
